Warner Animation Group’s new film, Coyote vs. Acme, is the star of the distributor’s catalog at this year’s LA Screenings. With a multimillion-dollar budget, top-tier actors, and all the most beloved Looney Tunes characters, it’s a guaranteed hit for the region.
Produced by Luis Cabrera, from Los Angeles
With one of the most recognized IPs in the world of children’s animation, and one that has resonated across generations, CDC United Network arrived at this year’s LA Screenings with, in the words of its Sales Manager, Jimmy Van der Heyden, “the product with the greatest commercial potential we’ve ever had.”
It is none other than Coyote vs. Acme, the new film from Warner Animation Group, which combines live action and animation to bring to the screen a new story starring the endearing Looney Tunes characters, focusing on Wile E. Coyote and the Acme Corporation.
The cast includes John Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and the voice of Eric Bauza.
“With a production budget of US$70 million, I think it has all the ingredients to be a huge success. It has action, comedy, and the characters are very beloved by parents. It has that element of nostalgia. Parents are going to want their children, their teenagers, to see it.”
“So I think we have an incredible product on our hands, and it was a great opportunity to be able to access a product of this scale; to have it in our catalog and to be able to release it in Latin America,” he added.
In the US, Coyote vs. Acme is already positioned as one of the most anticipated releases of this summer, which is generating a lot of anticipation for its distribution in Latin America.
“I truly believe it’s the product with the greatest commercial potential we’ve ever had. It also has this commercial appeal that really resonates with all segments of the population, all audiences. It’s a very cross-cutting product, and I think that’s why it’s going to do incredibly well in theaters,” the executive predicted.
“Then you have the TVOD window, where I’m sure it will also do very well. It’s a title that first-window buyers are eager to acquire. Everyone is lining up to see if they can get it. That puts us in a very favorable position, and we’re already in negotiations,” he explained.
Coyote vs. Acme is one of many films and productions in CDC’s Latin American catalog, one that draws on a variety of genres for all audiences.
“We always try to bring a well-rounded mix of commercially oriented content, with action and increasingly more animation, which are titles that lend themselves to co-viewing and work best on broadcast TV,” the executive said.
Within the list, the sales manager highlighted titles such as Dracula, “which is about to be released in first window”; the second installment of Phoenix; the zombie thriller We Bury the Dead; and the action films Wildcat, and Turner, among others.
