The distributor will manage broadcast rights for the new documentary about princess Diana in the region.

In the year of the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death, comes this portrait of the People’s Princess, Directed by Academy Award nominee Ed Perkins (Black Sheep) and produced by Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, told strictly through archival clips as an indictment of the media that made and broke her.

The new film was the runaway highlight of the Sundance festival’s opening night, and it is planned for a 2022 release in cinemas to mark the 25th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death.

“After its worldwide theatrical release, the film – produced by Lightbox in association with HBO and Sky – will have its television premiere on HBO and stream on HBO Max in the U.S., and on Sky Documentaries in the U.K.”, the producers said. “Diana is the first theatrical release documentary ever to be made about the Princess of Wales and is slated to open in cinemas worldwide”.

The Princess is a perfectly timed, compulsively watchable once-over-lightly documentary. It’s a chronicle of Princess Diana culled entirely from television news footage and other public records. In other words, this isn’t an intimate portrait of the Princess of Wales that ”takes us closer to the subject” through an archival jamboree of home movies, eyebrow-raising long-view commentary, and investigative coups. The Diana we see in “The Princess” is the one we’ve always seen, the one we’ve been watching for 40 years, 25 of them since her death in 1997. Since we’ve never stopped watching her, “The Princess,” coming on the heels of “Spencer,” Season 4 of “The Crown,” and the short-lived musical “Diana,” may sound like one Diana document too many. Yet after all those dramatic treatments, it’s galvanizing to see the real story laid out exactly as it happened — or, more precisely, as it happened and as it was presented to the public, those being, quite often, two very different things”, said Variety.

The new title was added by EO Media’s distribution division through its partnership with Impacto Cine, who will manage the Theatrical distribution in the territory.
