Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution announced changes to its 2021 release schedule. The arrivals of Cruella and Black Widow in PVOD format and Luca, from Disney and Pixar, directly to Disney+ stand out.

Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution announced new details about the launch of several Walt Disney Studios titles.

The announcement unveils details on the release of Cruella, Disney’s upcoming live-action film; Black Widow from Marvel Studios; and Luca from Disney and Pixar, and also includes revised release dates for other titles.

Thus, following the successful release of Raya and the Last Dragon, the live-action film Cruella and the highly anticipated Black Widow from Marvel Studios will be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ through Premium Access in most markets where Disney+ is located on Friday, May 28 and Friday, July 9, respectively.

And in the same way that Disney and Pixar’s Soul was available to all Disney+ subscribers over the holidays, Disney and Pixar’s Luca will be available in every home exclusively on Disney+ starting Friday, June 18.

It will be a special event that will kick off the summer season. In countries where Disney+ is not yet available, the film will be released in theaters and release dates will be announced later.

“Today’s announcement reflects our goal of offering multiple choices to the consumer and responding to audience preferences. Our flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic market that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, allows us to continue offering the best options. This way, fans and families around the world can enjoy stories from The Walt Disney Company,” said Kareem Daniel, President, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution.
