Created by Oficina Burman and Starring Mariana Treviño, the series began filming in Mexico and will premiere later this year on the ViacomCBS streaming service.

VIS, a division of ViacomCBS, announced the start of production of its dramedy, Cecilia, part of the portfolio of original content developed for the streaming platform Paramount+.

“We are excited to begin filming Cecilia, one of the first VIS originals for Paramount+ and the beginning of a new era for our studio,” said Federico Cuervo, SVP & Head of VIS Americas. “This story deals with some highly relatable topics that will undoubtedly capture the attention of audiences everywhere.”

The series, which stars Mariana Treviño (Club de Cuervos, Narcos: México, 100 Días Para Enamorarnos), tells the story of a woman whose world seemingly crumbles when she suffers a stroke. But what at first seems like a tragedy ends up being an opportunity to reunite her family and rebuild her life.

Cecilia also stars Erik Hayser, Michel Brown, and Martín Altomaro. The cast also includes Marimar Vega, César Bono, Lumi Cavazos, Ignacio Riva Palacio, Mariana Zaragoza, Leo Deluglio, Eligio Meléndez, Raquel Garza, Mónica Ayos, Natalia Coronado and Aminta Ireta.

Created by renowned writer and director Daniel Burman, the series is directed by Ihtzi Hurtado and is executive produced by Inna Payán.
