US broadcast network Univision broadcasted the finale of the critically acclaimed Turkish drama Mother (Madre), on Monday, May 16, at 10:00pm.

The Turkish drama made Univision the No. 1 network on all of television, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and all cable networks during the 10:00 pm hour among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

Driven by a female-led cast, the finale of Madre reached 2.7 million Total Viewers 2+, who tuned in to all or part of the one-hour telecast and delivered an average audience of 2.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 797,000 Adults 18-49 and 308,000 Adults 18-34.

The finale delivered its highest-rated telecast in its full run among Total Viewers 2+. During its full run, Madre averaged 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 653,000 Adults 18-49 and 240,000 Adults 18-34, making Univision the No. 1 broadcast network in the weeknight 10 p.m. hour among Adults 18-34 as well as the No. 1 Spanish-language network among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

Originally titled Anne, Mother is a MedYapım and MF Yapım co-production starring Cansu Dere, who starred in such successful Ottoman productions as Sila and Ezel.

The series, named the most exported from Turkey in 2019, conquered audiences in dozens of countries, including several in Latin America and Spain.

It tells the story of Zeynep (Dere), a young substitute teacher who, upon learning that one of her students, Melek (Beren Gökyıldız, only six years old), is being mistreated by her parents, makes the impulsive decision to kidnap her. and start a new life with the girl, become her “surrogate mother” and live various adventures together.

The series also features performances by Vahide Perçin (The Sultan, Feriha’s Secret), Serhat Teoman and Gonca Vuslateri.

It is based on the Japanese series of the same name, produced in 2010 by Nippon TV. In Turkey it was broadcast by Star TV in the 2016-2017 season.
