In the following interview with ttvnews, Claudia Dreyer, Head of International Acquisitions and Partnerships, Box Brazil Media Group, shares what content they want to add to their catalog in the international market.
In an industry as evolving as the entertainment industry, it is imperative to stay one step ahead of the latest trends and know what the international market demands regarding content.
To this end, ttvnews presents the Buyers: What are buyers looking for? Initiative to learn first-hand about the programming needs of buyers around the world.
This time, we spoke to Claudia Dreyer, Head of International Acquisitions and Partnerships, Box Brazil Media Group:
What content would you highlight among those that worked best for the company in 2024?
Box Brazil currently has seven pay TV channels and a fairly substantial package of on-demand content, VOD. We have had Claro TV as our big partner for some time now, with its Claro TV+ application. One of the highlights of last year was our Box Brazil Play content package, dedicated to Brazilian content.
In the last five years, I can talk a bit more about my area of activity within Box Brasil, which is international partnerships and international content licensing. We have been working on that.
We have worked for five years to bring new titles to the Brazilian market. Likewise, we have a large presence of North American content, from Hollywood, which has been culturally present for a long time.
So we started to open a front with other partners. As I say, there is a world of productions beyond Hollywood. This action was so successful that we are starting our partnership with Claro in March 2025.
Soon after, with Amazon Prime for the Brazilian territory, a new space with 100% international content, Mundos Play, was created. It features entertainment, documentaries, series, and movies produced in different territories.
We are very open in that sense, and we are looking for a closer relationship with our neighbors here in Latin America.
What kind of content, format, or genre do you go for at industry events?
We are open to various genres that we can present on our on-demand content platforms.
We have interests in several genres, and now we are also launching another channel on pay TV, called Travel and Food. Furthermore, we also have one of our flagship pay TV channels, Travel Box Brazil. It’s a travel channel, people, families, ordinary people, not celebrities in five-star hotels, it’s ordinary people traveling, living adventures, but it’s dedicated to 100% Brazilian content.
In recent years, we have reached the top 4 in the Brazilian pay TV audience’s choice, and now we are launching the Travel and Food channel for international content, travel, and gastronomy.
