With 111 million views in its first 25 days, it surpassed Bridgerton as the most successful OTT premiere in history.
As it was to be expected, The Squid Game is officially the best premiere in history on Netflix.
That, at least, according to the OTT platform’s own data, which revealed that the Korean series was seen by 111 million viewers around the world since its premiere on September 17.
With those numbers, reached in just 25 days, The Squid Game surpassed Bridgerton, which had amassed 82 million views in its first 28 days.
Netflix counts as one viewing if at least two minutes of an episode of a series was played.
Set in a dystopian South Korea, The Squid Game was the great television surprise of recent times with a premiere almost without promotion but that managed to sweep the whole world.
The series, in fact, reached number one on Netflix in at least 90 territories.
