The Spanish producer is arriving in Cannes with a slate of new fictions, co-productions and formats for the international market.
The Mediapro Studio is ready for a new edition of Mipcom, where it will unveil a vast catalog of fictions, co-productions and formats for the international market.
In terms of fiction, the company is presenting The Head, directed by Jorge Dorado over an Álex and David Pastor’s brothers script, is an ambitious thriller based in Antarctica. An international scientific team have to spend the entire winter in an isolated base with the threat of a killer among them.
Produced in association with HULU Japan and HBO Asia, the thriller explores the darkest sides of our personalities that confinement and isolation bring to light. The show is brought to life by a star-filled cast including Laura Bach, Mónica López, Alexandre Willaume, Katharine O’Donnelly, Tomohisa Yamashita John Lynch and Amelia Hoy and with the special collaboration of Álvaro Morte.
The first images of this amazing production will be unveiled during the event in Cannes on October 15th at the Esterel Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals.
Other international co-production, this time, and for the first time ever, with Finnish broadcaster YLE, is The Paradise, a thriller taking place between Finland and Spanish’s Costa del Sol, where a community of Finns settled fleeing the Scandinavian cold. Fran Perea and Riitta Havukainen lead the cast of this series in which Spanish and Finnish Police forces will have to work together to solve a murder case terrorizing the habitants of ‘Little Finland’.
After a first season successfully reaching the Americas and Spain, Side Games is back exploring the darkest secrets of Soccer Pro League. The second season co-produced with DirecTV Originals is a subtle mix of ambitions, greed and violence are subtly arranged in breathtaking trip behind the curtain of the most lucrative sport.
As regards to entertainment, The Mediapro Studio created and produced hand-in-hand with Michelin stars Chef Quique Dacosta, The Dinner of a Lifetime, a program inviting celebrities to taste their memories.
Already commissioned by Amazon Prime Spain, in the program, the Chef methodically studied key memories of his guests and translated them in the most sophisticated dishes. An innovative format which offers an intimate look at celebrities’ background through a culinary journey.
In addition, El discipulo del chef, an original format from The Mediapro Studio and Turner Latin America, recently launched on Chilevision, is a turning point in TV cooking programs. In this Prime Time format, three internationally renowned chefs not only act as judges of the aspiring chefs’ creations, but also compete alongside the contestants on their mission to find the best apprentice chef in the country.
In a completely different genre, but also made possible by Chef Quique Dacosta’s participation, Cocinar Belleza is an ode to the high cuisine. In this documentary, art savvy experts and artists try to answer a complicated interrogation: Is it possible to cook Beauty? Can a dish be considered as a piece of Art?
