New appointments will strengthen Univision News’ leadership in Spanish language news coverage in the U.S.

Daniel Coronell has been appointed President, Univision News, rejoining the company after two years. He first joined the Univision News team in early 2011 as Vice President and News Director and occupied other senior positions until he was promoted to President of News in 2016. Coronell was the architect of the award-winning Univision News team, leading the team with the highest journalistic standards, work ethic and a passion for serving the Hispanic community. Under Coronell’s leadership, Univision News was—and continues to be—the preferred news choice for Hispanics in the U.S., leading in ratings/share and achieving numerous prestigious awards—with 18 Emmys, four Rey de España awards and three Peabody Awards. In the last two years, Coronell has independently continued his journalistic work, serving as an advisor on various journalism projects

María Martínez-Guzmán will continue as Executive Vice President, Univision News, overseeing editorial and production units of Univision Network’s news properties, including the flagship newscast Noticiero Univision. Martínez-Guzmán joined Univision Network in 2002 from Univision’s McAllen, TX station KNVO-48 and has held numerous production and editorial positions at the company, including Executive Producer, Vice President of Newsgathering and recently, Senior Vice President of News. She is a distinguished broadcast journalist and has received several prestigious accolades throughout her career, including three Emmy Awards for executive production, a Peabody Award, and an IRE Award.

This proven and unique duo, together with the extraordinary news team, is well-positioned to maintain and strengthen the leadership of Univision News in Spanish-language news coverage in the U.S., particularly ahead of the 2024 elections.
