The successful Turkish film finally has a confirmed screen in the US Hispanic market, where it will premiere on Telemundo next Sunday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m.
In March of this year, Inter Medya announced the sale of its Turkish film, Miracle in Cell No. 7 to multiple territories, including the US Hispanic.
And this week, it was finally revealed that Telemundo will be the one to premiere the successful Turkish film, which will hit its screen this Sunday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. under the local title Milagro en la celda 7.
Directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin, Miracle in Cell No. 7 was an overwhelming success in Turkey, reaching more than 5.3 million viewers to be crowned the most watched in theaters of 2019. In addition, on Netflix it topped the Top 10 most films. popular in the US, Canada, Brazil and France, among other countries.
In Mexico, the film reached more than 3.1 million viewers, achieving a 19% share on Imagen TV and leading prime time. It became the most successful film in the network’s history, with a rating of 5.45% of households nationwide. In Chile, it aired on Canal 13 last week and became one of the most watched films on the channel in recent years, obtaining an audience of 11.6%, the highest since 2016.
Miracle in Cell No. 7 tells an emotional and thoughtful love story between a father with an intellectual disability – who makes him act and think like a child – who lives with his six-year-old daughter, Ova, and his grandmother.
His life changes when he is wrongly accused of murdering the daughter of a high-ranking military man. While he will suffer in prison, in cell 7, sentenced to death, Ova will fight to find the only witness who could help save the life of his father.
It is an adaptation of the 2013 South Korean film A Gift from Room 7.
