The original series inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ epic tale that started filming last week in Mexico, stars telenovela superstar, Fernando Colunga (Amor Real, Alborada) alongside Ana Brenda Contreras (Dynasty, Por Amar Sin Ley).

Telemundo announced the official cast for its new period melodrama, El Conde: Amor y Honor (The Count: Love and Honor), slated to premiere in 2023.

The original series inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ epic tale that started filming last week in Mexico, stars telenovela superstar, Fernando Colunga (Amor Real, Alborada) alongside Ana Brenda Contreras (Dynasty, Por Amar Sin Ley), who makes her debut on Telemundo.

The all-star cast features Marjorie de Sousa (Al Otro Lado del Muro, Un Poquito Tuyo,) Sergio Sendel in the antagonist role (Mi Fortuna es Amarte, Lo Imperdonable,) Chantal Andere (Parientes a la Fuerza, Mi Fortuna es Amarte) as the villain and Víctor González (Los Ricos también Lloran, Quererlo Todo). The adaptation also includes special performances by renowned leading actress, Helena Rojo (El Privilegio de Amar, Amor Real), Omar Fierro (Señora Acero, Mi Fortuna es Amarte,) Javier Díaz Dueñas (La Suerte de Loli, Monarca) and Manuel Navarro (La Reina del Sur 2, Bolívar).

The supporting cast includes Alejandro Ávila, Sergio Reynoso, Mario Loria, Leticia Perdigón, Enoc Leaño, Erika de la Rosa, Roberto Romano, Uriel del Toro, Jason Romo, Patricia Martínez, Antonio Fortier, Jessica Coch, Saraí Meza, Xabiani Ponce de León, Job Huerta, Annie Cabello, and Lu Rosette.

The Count: Love and Honor is a period drama that begins in the 1930s with the powerful love story of Alejandro Gaitán (Colunga), a humble young farmer, and Mariana (Contreras), a beautiful and rebellious young woman. But Josefina de Zambrano (Andere), Mariana’s stepmother, and Gerardo Villarreal (Sendel), will conspire to turn their relationship into a living hell. Alejandro will be charged with a double homicide and without anyone knowing his fate, he will be transferred to a dungeon on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. There he will meet Amador Guzmán (Navarro), a Spanish nobleman serving a life sentence who will reveal to Alejandro that he has a hidden treasure, leaving him this fortune before his death.

When Alejandro manages to escape in the 50’s, he returns to San Jacinto with an immense fortune and discovers that Mariana married Gerardo and that he was left for dead. He then decides to execute a plan to bring justice against those who betrayed him, especially Mariana who he believes is part of the conspiracy. Alejandro returns as the powerful Count Joaquín de Montenegro, unleashing a dangerous quest for revenge against those responsible for his 17 years of wrongful imprisonment.

Based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas, El Conde: Amor y Honor (The Count: Love and Honor) was written by Sandra Velasco and Alejandro Vergara. Produced by Sony Pictures for Telemundo, the series is directed by Miguel Varoni, Danny Gavidia and Felipe Aguilar. Andrés León Becker, Damián Aguilar and Juan Pablo Ambris serve as directors of cinematography; and María Eugenia González is the production designer. Jorge Sastoque is the general producer for Sony Pictures. Karen Barroeta, Ximena Cantuarias and David Posada are executive producers for Telemundo.
