Under the new agreement, the star of Telemundo’s Lord of the Skies franchise, will star in various Telemundo Global Studios original productions with his first project slated to air later this year.

Telemundo Global Studios announced today it signed the international superstar Rafael Amaya to a multi-project deal.

Under the new agreement, the star of Telemundo’s popular, Emmy Award-winning franchise El Señor de los Cielos (Lord of the Skies), will star in various Telemundo Global Studios original productions with his first project slated to air later this year.

Rafael Amaya is an internationally renowned and multifaceted Mexican entertainer who has become one of the best-known actors in Spanish-language media today. As the star of the Emmy Award-winning and longest-running Telemundo Super Series franchise, El Señor de los Cielos (Lord of the Skies), Amaya gained popularity with his interpretation of “Aurelio Casillas,” earning multiple recognitions and awards throughout seven seasons, including being named the recipient of the “Outstanding Achievement in Hispanic Television” award at the 15th Annual Hispanic Television Summit in 2017.

His successful career also includes roles in the hit series La Reina del Sur, alongside Kate del Castillo, and a guest role in the American adaptation of the same series, Queen of the South. In theater and movies, he has participated in various productions including the short film Kiss of Vengeance and in the film based on the life of the Mexican actor and comedian Cantinflas. Amaya has also served as co-host of the “Billboard Mexican Music Awards” and the “Billboard Latin Music Awards.”
