Stein will oversee drama and comedy development, TriStar Television, and international co-productions, as well as current series programming in its first year.

Sony Television has promoted Lauren Stein to the newly created position of Head of Creative. Previously the head of drama development at the company since 2017, Stein will now be responsible for overseeing the development of both drama and comedy. She will continue reporting to Katherine Pope President of Sony Pictures Television Studios.

Pope expressed his excitement about appointing Stein as the Head of Creative. “Lauren is a well-respected executive, and throughout her extensive experience in the creative community, she has formed strong connections that enhance her natural ability to engage with talent and foster their compelling storytelling. She played a crucial role in discovering and developing some of the studio’s most significant drama series and is always looking for new content to keep SPT at the forefront.”

In 2015, Stein joined Sony as the Senior Vice President of Drama Series Development. She has played a significant role in the development and production of popular series like The Boys, The Good Doctor, The Night Agent, Goosebumps, and The Wheel of Time. Currently, she is working on upcoming projects like Obliterated for Netflix, Dark Matter, and Vince Gilligan’s new series for Apple.

Stein previously worked as senior VP of drama series development at Chernin Entertainment and VP of drama programming at Universal Media Studios before joining Sony. She began her television career at NBC.
