Series and Sports: Disney Unveils Entire Star+ Offer for LatAm

The Walt Disney Company Latin America’s new OTT platform will be launched in Latin America on August 31 and will have a combination of series and all live sports from ESPN.

Star+, the new streaming service from The Walt Disney Company Latin America for general entertainment and sports aimed at adults, will be launched on August 31 in Latin America.

And today, the company presented the OTT platform’s catalog, which will combine a wide range of live sports with ESPN along with the full catalog of 20th Television animated comedies and Star exclusive international original productions.

All this, in addition to 66 original Latin American productions recently announced by the service.

The price, meanwhile, will be announced “soon.”

“With the arrival of Sta + to Latin America, we marked a new milestone in the streaming experience, enhancing it, offering each subscriber personalized access to content, especially live sports,” said Diego Lerner, president of The Walt Disney Company Latin America .

“Offering relevant experiences has always been our north and will continue to be the objective of our streaming proposals. Star + will have the largest offer of live sports content on a streaming platform, with multiple competitions from which each subscriber will be able to choose according to their preferences. In addition, it will feature a vast selection of animated comedies such as The Simpsons, as well as original series and films developed by the prestigious international production labels of The Walt Disney Company. This offer completes the value proposition of 66 original content from Latin America, with stories that reflect everyday themes of our region,” he added.

Thus, for the first time in Latin America, ESPN will be able to be accessed via streaming independently, from pay TV.

Live matches from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Spanish LaLiga, England Premier League, France Ligue 1, Italy Serie A; as well as the Grand Slam and ATP and WTA tennis tournaments; NBA; NFL; Tour de France in cycling; PGA Tour and The Masters in golf, and the most outstanding rugby in the world, including Los Pumas, URBA, Sanzaar, Six Nations and SLAR.

At the same time, Star+ will offer successful shows produced in Argentina, such as SportsCenter, ESPN Fútbol 10, ESPN F12, ESPN F90, ESPN F360, ESPN F Show, ESPN FC, ESPN Fútbol Táctico, among others.

In addition, documentaries such as ESPN 30 × 30 and original productions exclusively developed for the platform.

INTERNATIONAL SERIES

In terms of series, there’s titles such as the comedy Only Murders in the Building, starring actors Steve Martin and Martin Short, and actress and singer Selena Gómez; and the biographical drama Pam & Tommy, with a cast led by actress Lily James and actor Sebastian Stan.

Also featured is Y: The Last Man, the new FX drama series based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. In addition, the catalog will include the miniseries Dopesick and Immigrant, starring actors Michael Keaton and Kumail Nanjiani respectively; the productions American Horror Stories and Reservation Dogs; documentary series such as Welcome to Wrexham, starring Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney; the series of interviews hosted by artist David Choe, The Choe Show; biopics like Dear Mam – about hip hop icon Tupac Shakur – and Pistol, about Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones; Finally, fiction productions in a drama and comedy tone stand out, such as The Big Leap, Maggie, Queens, Our Kind of People and The Wonder Years.

Also available with the launch of the platform, the original Star productions already announced as Love, Victor, Big Sky and A Teacher; seasons of fan-favorite series such as This is Us and The Walking Dead; iconic titles, like Grey’s Anatomy; blockbusters such as Deadpool, Logan and Bohemian Rhapsody; and recent theatrical releases to stream on Star+, including the most recent Oscar® winner in the Best Picture category: Nomadland.

THE HOME OF THE SIMPSONS

Animated comedies for adults also have a privileged place on Star+ through a wide and varied offer that includes favorites fro Latin American fans.

Among other productions, on August 31 will see the exclusive premiere of the 32nd season of The Simpsons, the iconic and multi-award-winning series that reaps legions of fans around the world and for the first time the complete collection will be available on the platform.

In addition, a few weeks after the launch of Star+, Solar Opposites will arrive, a Star Original Productions series from the creators of Rick and Morty. Other animated productions that will make up the catalog are the series created by Seth MacFarlane Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show; Futurama, from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, and Bob’s Burgers and Duncanville.

In October, Crossing Swords and The Great North will arrive, in November Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. and Marvel’s Hit Monkey and Little Demon, among others, will arrive in the course of 2022.
