Star Media announced the launch of a new anti-piracy service named ContentScan, lead by a machine learning software that is capable of automatically detecting and removing pirate content on the internet.
As a producer and distributor of content, Star Media has been actively engaged in the anti-piracy activities since 2014 and in the last six years it has become one of the leaders of pre-trial protection.
According to the company, Star Media is a member of a special Google program for cooperation with copyright holders, a signatory to the anti-piracy memorandum, and a participant of the YouTube certification program. The company has invested all the experience gained into the creation of a unique service that will allow copyright holders to look at the content protection from a new perspective and increase the effectiveness of content protection up to 100%.
ContentScan is based on the machine learning technology that automates the entire process from detecting the pirate content to its complete removal. It allows protecting an unlimited amount of works and makes protection more accessible to monetize all the created content. The service can protect VOD-content and live broadcasts including separate sports events.
“We have expert experience in three areas – production, distribution and content protection. As a production company Star Media has long been successfully operating on the market,” explcained Ekaterina Smirnova, CEO of ContentScan. “The digital direction of the company has also grown into a separate agency with an individual approach and full-cycle services. Our experience and evidence base is unique! And we intend to use all our knowledge for the effective work of ContentScan Company.”
“The Star Media experience showed that the commercial effect of high-quality video protection accounts for at least 25% of revenue growth for archive projects and for no less than 50% growth for premier projects. That’s exactly what we are to implement for our partners,” added Smirnova.
ContentScan Software has already proven its effectiveness, having removed about 3 million pirated links from Yandex within the framework of anti-piracy memorandum (that is more than a third of all the links found by copyright holders).
ContentScan will continue to protect the content partners Star Media has long been cooperating with, such as the projects of “Planeta Inform”, the group of companies “Prior”,“Amedia”, “Mars Media”, “Volga Film”, “Bazelevs” and others. Moreover the anti-piracy protection of the company will cover more than 500 content units of the “Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Company” media holding that has recently become one of the partners of Star Media in the anti-piracy fight.
