RCN Televisión announced on Thursday that its international distribution arm agreed to sell the super series El capo to Estrella TV from the US.

It will premiere on June 1 at 9:00 p.m. and will air Mondays through Fridays on the US Hispanic channel.

Produced by Fox Telecolombia, El capo was first premiered in 2009 in Colombia through RCN.

Since then, it has become a Colombian TV classic and has been broadcast in 75 countries, with translations in 12 languages.

It was also adapted in Mexico by Imagen Televisión.

It has a total of three seasons and 223 one-hour episodes.

It was written by Gustavo Bolívar and stars Marlon Moreno, Maria Adelaida Puerta, Katherine Vélez and Marcela Mar.

It tells the life of Pedro Pablo León Jaramillo, a great boss of the drug trafficking mafia. He recounts how he ascends from the humblest neighborhoods in Colombia to the black peaks of the criminal world.
