The event’s organization presented new additions to its agenda, including sessions about international production of dramas and unscripted content, with participation from executives from Endemol Shine, Lionsgate, NBCU, Amazon, Banijay, Studiocanal, Fremantle, Sony, A+E and more.

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE), the premier global business association for content producers, distributors, streamers and buyers across all platforms, has revealed the additional programming details for NATPE Miami 2022 including the opening session.

The annual in-person event is set to take place from January 18-20, 2022, at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami, Florida.

This year’s edition of NATPE Miami will kick off on Tuesday, January 18, with a conversation on the evolving business of content since the introduction of streaming from a financial perspective. Matthew Belloni, Founding Partner of Puck News, will moderate a session featuring Lionsgate Television Group Chair, Kevin Beggs; Aventine LLC Co-CEO Kevin Mayer; and Managing Director and Senior Media & Entertainment Analyst at BofA Securities Global Research Jessica Reif Ehrlich.

On Wednesday, Laura Molen, President Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal will keynote, and then kick off a timely media-buyers discussion on revenue opportunities in advertising and marketing featuring Denise Ocasio, Executive Director, Investment at Mindshare; Brian Doherty, SVP, Ad Sales, CW; and Mike Peretz, EVP, Ad Sales Revenue Management, A+E.

The afternoon of the first day of NATPE will be dedicated to the inner workings of international content production. Teresa Fernández-Valdés, Executive Producer, Bambú Producciones, a Studiocanal Company; Firat Gulgen, CEO and Founder, Calinos;; and Luca Bernabei, CEO and Producer, Lux Vide will be on stage for a session titled “Global Drama 2022: Where In-Language Originals Dominate.”

That will be immediately followed by a hotly anticipated conversation on the transformation of international co-productions featuring Francoise Guyonnet, Executive Managing Director TV Series, Studiocanal; Matt Creasey, EVP, Sales, Co-Productions & Acquisitions, Rest of the World, Banijay Rights; Ana Bond, SVP and Managing Director, International Production, Latin America, Sony; and Christian Vesper, President of Global Drama, Fremantle.

A staple of the NATPE Miami conference, the unscripted track will feature a keynote conversation with Kathleen Finch, Chief Lifestyle Brand Officer, Discover Inc., followed by a session on the shifting nature of the unscripted industry moderated by Bruce David Klein, Founder and Executive Producer, Atlas Media Corp., and featuring Ben Samek, President & Chief Operating Officer, Endemol Shine Americas; Max Einhorn, SVP, Acquisitions and Co-Productions, FilmRise; Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming, A+E Networks; and Courtney White, President, Food Network.

Closing out the track will be a panel titled “Hot Global Formats and International Co-productions” presented by FRAPA (The Format Recognition and Protection Association) featuring CJ Yu, Head of Unscripted Development Global Formats, Amazon; Carlotta Rossi Spencer, Head of Format Acquisition, Banijay Group; Paul Gilbert, SVP, International Formats, CBS Studios International; Enrique Guillen, EVP, International Strategy, NBC Universal. The conversation will be moderated by Phil Gurin, President & CEO of The Gurin Company, and Co-Chairman FRAPA.

A new addition to this year’s conference will be a session on growing audio content space produced in partnership with Podcast Movement and titled “How Television is Becoming a Part of the Podcast Movement.” Becky Rho, Director of Podcast & Digital Production, HBO and HBO Max; Donald Albright, CEO, Tenderfoot TV; and Aaron Hart, Head of TV/Film, Wondery, will discuss the value of podcasts as a springboard for television program development, as a way to build deeper connections with television audiences, and as an opportunity for television networks to create original content in a new medium. Rebecca Jarvis, Host and creator of “The Dropout” podcast and ABC News chief business, technology & economics correspondent will moderate.

The Station Group Summit, a Day 2 concurrent track to the main stage sessions, is shaping up to be an amazing event. The recipients of the IRIS Awards were previously announced and can be found HERE. Mario Lopez, Actor and Host of Access Hollywood and Access Daily is now confirmed to join the iconic IRIS Awards as the presenter of the Lew Klein Leadership Award, which will be given to Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Local.
