The new original comedy is produced by Movistar Plus+ and Contubernio SL, and is set to premiere in 2024.
The shooting of Muertos SL started this October, a new original production by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Contubernio S.L., created and directed by Alberto Caballero, Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor and Daniel Deorador, and directed by Laura Caballero. The shooting is taking place in Madrid and will last for eight weeks.
Muertos SL is a 30-minute sitcom that depict the day-to-day life of a family-owned funeral home.
The Caballero siblings commented, “We really wanted to explore this theme, perhaps its a midlife crisis that puts you in touch with your own mortality. Additionally, we wanted to create a workplace comedy, which was one of the few contexts we hadn’t tackled yet.”

The series stars Carlos Areces (The Countryside, The One that Comes) leads the cast. Ascen López (El Inmortal, The Sea Beyond), Salva Reina (If Only, Down There), Aitziber Garmendia (El enjambre), Adriana Torrebejano (Cristo and Rey, No Traces), Diego Martín (Supernormal, Un novio para mi mujer), Gerard B. Fillmore (Kings of the Airwaves, Unfortunate Stories), Amaia Salamanca (You Shall Not Lie, The Man from Rome), Roque Ruiz (The Countryside, The Mess You Leave Behind), Lorea Intxausti (Go!azen), Manolo Cal (Remember When), Bárbara Santa-Cruz (Good Manners Bosé), Lucía Quintana (Slaughterhouse), and Juan Miguel Bataller (Madres, The Fury of a Patient Man) complete the cast of Muertos SL.
Synopsis
When Gonzalo Torregrosa, owner and founder of Torregrosa Funeral Home, passes away, Dámaso Carrillo, his right-hand man in the company, doesnt hesitate that the best for the business is taking the reins himself. However, against all odds, Nieves, the septuagenarian widow, decides to take the lead in the family business, with the assistance of her inept yet enthusiastic son-in-law, Chemi, a Marketing expert, and in defiance of her daughters plans to close the Funeral Home and start a gym. While Dámaso conspires and manipulates his colleagues against the new management, the company will face competition from Transitus Funeral Services and their expansion plans, as well as a #MeToo case that threatens Gonzalo Torregosas legacy.
