Productions by VIS, Telemundo, Globo and HBO Spain will compete in the 59th edition of the prestigious TV awards.

Nominees in the prestigious 59th Rose d’Or Awards have been announced, selected from 766 entries across 12 categories, for the 2020 digital edition.

The shortlist was voted for by over 80 international judges from across the television industry and includes entries from every major territory in the world.

Given the extraordinary challenges faced in 2020, this year’s awards also includes a special category to recognise Innovation In The Time of COVID, with finalists from Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, the US and UK.

Mark Rowland, chair of the 2020 judges, said: “At a time when the medium of television has never played a more central role in our lives – and when producing programmes has never been more challenging – we’ve seen an amazing breadth of subjects and creative treatments. With production standards higher than ever, across the globe. Congratulations to all the nominees on an amazing achievement.”

The list of finalists includes several titles from Latin America and Spain, including R, the ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS), Claro Video and Paramount Network series, which is cometing in the Best Comedy category.

Another VIS series, Victoria Small, is also nominated, this time in the Best Telenovela category, competing against 100 días para enamorarnos by Telemundo Global Studios and A Life Worth Living by Globo.

Lastly, two nominees from Spain made the cut: At Home (HBO Spain) and digital series Canceled (More Sauce for Facebook).

This year’s awards will be announced in a virtual ceremony presented by comedian Nish Kumar at the Rosedor on December 9.
