New seasons of Dra. Lucía: Un don extraordinario, Un día para vivir and Lotería del crimen, each featuring 50 episodes, headline TV Azteca’s scripted content lineup at Mipcom 2026.
“Our scripted content is performing very well. These are the productions we have on free-to-air television, and they’re delivering strong ratings,” said Karina Montoya, Director of Distribution and Strategic Alliances at TV Azteca, speaking with ttv.
Starring Marimar Vega, Dra. Lucía premiered its third season on September 28 on Azteca 7, with Itatí Cantoral joining the cast. Meanwhile, the fifth season of Un día para vivir, an anthology thriller series starring María José Magán, premiered in Mexico on August 31.
The lineup also includes Lotería del crimen, whose fifth season premieres this Monday, October 12, on Azteca 7, coinciding with the opening of Mipcom in Cannes.
The distributor is also showcasing Cautiva por amor, a 2025 telenovela starring Litzy and Osvaldo de León, along with its library of classic telenovelas, movies and entertainment formats.
“Our classics always perform well. We have high-quality productions, strong casts and contemporary content,” Montoya said, also highlighting La Granja, MasterChef and La Academia among the titles in TV Azteca’s commercial lineup.
The company’s international offering also includes pay TV networks and FAST channels, while Montoya is holding meetings with buyers from Europe and Africa.
“We had a very positive first meeting, with significant interest from a VOD platform. Hopefully, we’ll be able to close a deal,” she said, although discussions are still at an early stage.
In Latin America, TV Azteca continues to refresh its catalog and expand its distribution agreements.
“We have good deals in Latin America, including agreements with pay TV channels and an AVOD platform that carries our content. We’re renewing our catalog to expand our presence across the region,” she explained.
Looking ahead to Mip Cancún and 2027, Montoya said one of her current priorities is adding new content to TV Azteca’s distribution library to strengthen its commercial offering for the coming year.
