The consultancy firm unveiled its new Tracking the Giants report, where All3Media’s The Traitors was crowned as the leading format of the past year, with over 11 adaptations, followed by Good Luck Guys from Banijay.

During this year’s MIPFormats, which took place this past weekend prior to Miptv, K7 Media unveiled this year’s Tracking the Giants report, which reveals the top formats of the last 12 months.

This time, the consultancy firm said All3Media’s The Traitors was the number one format of the past year. The format grew from seven releases in 2022 to 11 in 2023, with several international broadcasters premiering local versions.

The Traitors was created by IDTV for RTL4 in The Netherlands and follows a group of strangers who come together to complete a series of challenges to earn a cash prize, while avoiding being kicked out of the game by “traitors”.

In addition, Banijay’s Good Luck Guys was named “Rising Format Star” for its six new adaptations, while Talpa Studios’ The Foor was named “Format to Watch” in 2024. The Floor has received 10 new commissions since its premiere on RTL4.

Meanwhile, Fremantle’s Family Feud, which has been adapted more than nine times, received the “Revival of the Year” prize.

In terms of territories, the report said Germany, Spain and Belgium are the leading importers of new formats in 2023.
