Ponce will lead the unit recently launched by Telemundo Global Studios.

Telemundo Global Studios announced this Thursday the promotion of Juan Ponce to senior vice president and general manager of its recently launched Telemundo Streaming Studios, a studio dedicated exclusively to serving the growing Latino streaming audiences in the US and the rest of the world.

In this new role, Ponce will continue to report to Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios, and will be responsible for leading the new company created to produce premium fiction original content.

In addition to developing and producing its own IP (intellectual property), the new studio will offer production services to direct-to-consumer platforms in search of high-quality production capabilities and expertise.

Ponce will continue to oversee Telemundo’s production operations, production design and Underground Productions in Argentina.

“Juan is a seasoned executive who has the experience and the perfect track record to lead this new studio and help Telemundo Global Studios continue to be the pioneer in this highly competitive industry,” said Santana.

As part of a realignment of Telemundo Global Studios, Karen Barroeta, Executive Vice President of Production and Development, who also reports to Santana, will expand her responsibilities to now oversee Talent and Casting, Script Development and the lead writing team, in addition to her responsibilities. general in the production of long-form fiction content.

Ponce and Barroeta will work closely with Santana to identify synergies and joint production opportunities for the studios.

Most recently, Ponce was Senior Vice President of Operations and Production Strategy at Telemundo Global Studios, where he was in charge of strategic planning, business and production operations, financial strategies, management and investments.

In addition, he supervised the Future Development teams and the Casting and Talent Management.

In this role, Ponce assisted in the creation and expansion of premium short-form miniseries produced in more than eight countries for all platforms. Prior to that, Ponce was Vice President of Finance and Corporate Strategy for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.

Before joining NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises in 2016, Ponce founded and was CEO of New Generation Media, a Hispanic media startup focused on content production and distribution. Previously, he spent nearly 15 years in the financial services industry where he worked in investment banking advising institutional investors and corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, investments, and corporate development.
