The CEO of Latin Media Corp is in Cannes with his team, representing a catalog with more than 5,000 hours of content dubbed into Spanish, as well as great titles from América TV

For José Escalante, CEO of Latin Media Corp, 2023 is marking the return of one of the Latin American telenovelas to the main international markets, an element to which the company is strongly committed with titles such as Maricucha and Luz de luna.

“We distribute the soap operas of América TV from Peru,” says Escalante, present in Cannes for the current edition of Miptv 2023. “And we are seeing the return of the Latin American soap opera to Europe and Asia.”

“Europe is consuming more soap operas,” he adds. “I had been consuming a lot of Turkish products, but the market is saturated with that product and when we look around, we are there.”

Along with this phenomenon, Latin Media Corp also takes advantage of the proliferation of new platforms and FAST channels with a catalog that also includes more than 5,000 hours of content dubbed into Spanish. “There is a demand for content with a family touch, that can be seen from grandmother to grandson, and that is what we have,” says Escalante.

To the productions of América TV, Asian series and soap operas are added to this offer of family content. “We are pioneers in Asian content, with series and soap operas from South Korea, India, the Philippines, China and Thailand,” says the executive. “We are also looking at products from other countries that may work in the region.”
