The Australian crime thriller will be available to stream for free on ITVX from November 1, with its first two seasons.
ITV has acquired Last King of the Cross, the Australian crime thriller distributed internationally by Cineflix Rights, which will be available to stream for free on ITVX from November 1. The deal covers the first two seasons of the series, originally launched on Paramount+ Australia.
Starring Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel, Barons) and Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Lie to Me, Tin Star), the drama is inspired by the bestselling autobiography of John Ibrahim, a nightlife entrepreneur who rose from penniless immigrant to become one of Australia’s leading nightclub moguls.
Set in Sydney’s criminal underworld, the series follows John Ibrahim and his older brother, Sam, played by Claude Jabbour (Eden, Stateless). The brothers rise through the ranks of Kings Cross, a district shaped by organized crime, territorial disputes and police corruption.
As cocaine sweeps through Sydney, the balance of power shifts, forcing the brothers to confront the reigning king of Kings Cross, Ezra Shipman, played by Roth, as well as criminal gangs and outlaw motorcycle clubs.
The first season premiered on Paramount+ on February 17, 2023, becoming the streaming platform’s most-watched Australian series. The second season launched on August 30, 2024.
Last King of the Cross is produced by Helium Pictures for Paramount+ Australia, with Cineflix Rights serving as its exclusive international distribution partner. Mark Fennessy and Karl Zwicky are producers, while Fennessy and John Ibrahim serve as executive producers.
The series is written by Kieran Darcy-Smith, Morgan O’Neill, Jane Allen, Alastair Newton Brown, Matt Nable and James Pope, and directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith, Grant Brown, Catherine Millar and Ian Watson. Post-production, digital and visual effects were supported by Screen NSW and Screen Queensland.
Both seasons of Last King of the Cross will be available to stream on ITVX from November 1.
