Luis Duran will be General Manager of HBO Max Latin America and will be accompanied by Dionne Bermudez as Product leader, Jose Calderoni as Growth Marketing leader, Dainira Falk as Legal Area leader, Maria Huntsberry as Talent leader, Jesus Rodriguez as Content Experience leader and Dario Tonelli as leader of Data, Insights & Planning.
Days after confirming the departure of Luis Peraza and Roberto Rios from HBO Latin America and revealing their new Entertainment leadership, WarnerMedia announced that Luis Duran will join the company starting in February as general manager of HBO Max Latin America.
He will report to Johannes Larcher, Head of HBO Max International, and will be in charge of HBO Max’s launch and management in Latin America, WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer product scheduled to launch this year.
Most recently, Duran was Chief Commercial Officer of MBC Group’s digital division, the leading Middle Eastern media company, based in Dubai, where he participated in the successful relaunch of the digital product that is the group’s flagship, Shahid, overseeing the revenue stream and leading the Marketing, Distribution, Analytics and Support teams.
Prior to his role at MBC Group, Duran held senior leadership positions at iflix, a Video On Demand service focused on emerging markets, and at TIMWE, a global provider of traditional and digital content solutions. He also has an extensive background in management consulting, with a ten-year career at Delta Partners, where as a partner he focused on the telecommunications and media industries.
Joining Duran’s leadership team in Latin America are Dionne Bermúdez as Product Leader, José Calderoni as Growth Marketing Leader, Dainira Falk as Legal Area Leader, Maria Huntsberry as Talent Leader, Jesús Rodríguez as Content Experience Leader and Dario Tonelli as Data, Insights & Planning Leader.
Dionne Bermúdez will lead the Product Experience team, reporting to both the Latin America team and the global HBO Max Product team led by Sarah Lyons to shape the app experience across all major Latin American platforms. She will also be collaborating with the Growth Marketing, Content Experience and Data teams to ensure product excellence in the region. Bermúdez was in charge of the launch and integration of the HBO GO streaming platform in various access and purchase points in Latin America and was part of HBO Latin America since 2000.
Jose Calderoni heads the Growth Marketing team, being responsible for leading a multidisciplinary group of key growth areas such as Acquisitions, Branding, Creativity, Life Cycle and Business Development, as well as Publicity and Activations, Social Networks and Consumer Services. Calderoni has extensive experience driving the growth of new digital services. Previously, he was senior vice president of international marketing for direct-to-consumer service Starz, director of Marketing and Social Media for Netflix in northern Latin America, and led the marketing and e-commerce areas in the launch of the Volaris airline.
Dario Tonelli will be in charge of the Data, Insights & Planning area, providing financial, strategic and competitive insights for the HBO Max Latin America team. Previously, he was Head of Corporate Development and Financial Analysis at Turner Latin America, where he played a crucial role in establishing Turner as a key player in the sports arena through a combination of partnerships, new businesses, and acquisitions.
Jesús Rodríguez will lead the Content Experience team, overseeing the editorial strategy of HBO Max Latin America. With more than 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Rodríguez comes from his role as general manager of HBO Networks Latin America and brings a solid knowledge and connection with what consumers want to see, as well as insights for content strategies and programming.
Dainira Falk will be in charge of the Legal area at HBO Max in Latin America. Reporting to David Ho, Global Head of Legal at HBO Max, Falk worked as an attorney, both in the United States and in Latin America, and has a long career in the entertainment industry. She comes from HBO Latin America, where she provided legal advice in several crucial areas of business in the region, such as regulation, consumer advocacy, advertising sales, litigation and marketing.
Maria Huntsberry will lead the Talents area, reporting to the team led by Michele Golden. Huntsberry will be in charge of aligning the business needs of HBO Max and n Latin America with the talent management strategy that will help drive people, culture and business into the future. He has more than 25 years of experience and most recently served as Vice President and Human Resources Leader at Warner Bros., where he led the development and execution of organizational structures, functions, and processes solutions to meet changing business demands. .
The HBO Max Latin America team will work in conjunction with Whit Richardson, president of WarnerMedia Latin America, and leaders of his team, such as Jorge Carey, Distribution leader; Tomás Yankelevich, Chief Content Officer of General Entertainment; and Pablo Zuccarino, leader of Kids in Latin America, in a collaboration essential for the success of HBO Max in the region.
