The telenovela will soon be available on the international market.

Globo’s new prime time production, Rebirth (working title) debuted on January 22nd in Brazil and has already won over the audience. In its first chapter, the plot reached over 35 million people and took social media by storm as the most talked about telenovela in the world on X*. Based on the work of Benedito Ruy Barbosa, Rebirth is written by Bruno Luperi and has an artistic direction by Gustavo Fernandez, the same team responsible for Pantanal. During its first week, Rebirth surpassed the viewership of Pantanal, which was the audience leader during its broadcast on Globo in 2022**. Soon, Rebirth will be available on the international market.

Rebirth steps into a deeper Brazil in a more powerful way. Just like Pantanal, they are epic, timeless works that are in the affective memory of the audience and the television, and now we have the possibility of bringing them to the present day. Because time writes with us, says Bruno Luperi. Despite being a telenovela written more than 30 years ago, I consider it very modern. The function of the telenovela, for me, is to present a portrait of society so that it can later be discussed by society itself and not by me, he adds.

In the story, after the pact with the Jequitiba, José Inocêncio, a character played in the first phase by Humberto Carrão (All The Flowers) and later by Marcos Palmeira (Pantanal), becomes known as a mythical figure when he becomes the most successful farmer in the region due to his successes as a cocoa producer. When young, he wins the love of Maria Santa (Duda Santos, from The Path). The overwhelming passion between them generates four children: José Augusto (Renan Monteiro), José Bento (Marcello Melo Jr, from Dissident Archangel), José Venâncio (Rodrigo Simas, from Pride and Passion) and the youngest, João Pedro (Juan Paiva, from In Your Place), the only one who did not have the opportunity to live alongside his mother, who dies giving birth to him. The fatality makes José Inocêncio grow resentful of João Pedro, who he blames for the death of the love of his life.

Indifference and hurt mark the relationship between the patriarch and the youngest son throughout his life. As if the past wasnt enough, years later, the arrival of the mysterious Mariana (Theresa Fonseca) will put all these emotions to the test when father and son fall in love with the same woman. The situation makes feelings that were dormant or until then unknown to both of them grow again.

The cast also includes names such as Antonio Calloni (A Trick of Fate), Vladimir Brichta (A Mothers Love), Juliana Paes (Pantanal), Irandhir Santos (Pantanal), Enrique Diaz (A Mothers Love), and Sophie Charlotte (All the Flowers), among others.
