The format of CJ ENM combines singing and betting between couples during which five girlfriends try to demonstrate the talent of their boyfriends

TV Globo will add to its screen a Brazilian adaptation of My Boyfriend is Better, the Korean format distributed worldwide by CJ ENM.

The adaptation will be integrated as part of the variety show Pipoca da Ivete and its first appearance will take place on September 17.

My Boyfriend is Better combines singing and gambling during which five girlfriends try to prove their boyfriends’ talents.

The format debuted on the CJ ENM-owned music channel Mnet, and went on to win multiple awards, as well as a Thai adaptation, which premiered in June 2023.

“As an exporter of renowned music formats, CJ ENM is excited to see and support international adaptations of My Boyfriend is Better,” said Diane Min, Head of Format Sales for CJ ENM. “Our partnership with TV Globo, one of Brazil’s leading broadcast networks, marks an important milestone and we are eager to extend this opportunity to Latin America. We strongly believe that the show’s distinctive elements will captivate viewers around the world.”

“Shows like My Boyfriend is Better are very attractive to Brazilian audiences, and bringing an unseen format also creates a huge expectation on how the couples will deal with the game,” said Creso Eduardo, who will be in charge of the Globo adaptation. “It’s riveting to guess if participants will bet thinking on the money prize or they’re beloved singer partner. To make it even better, it will be presented by Ivete Sangalo, a unanimous icon in Brazil, who will certainly bring a lot of fun and entertainment to the competition.”
