The Brazilian company will participate in MIP Africa with new launches, entertainment formats and Globoplay original productions, building on its longstanding partnership with Côte Ouest, its established partner across the continent.
Globo is looking to expand its presence in the African market with a slate combining telenovelas, series, entertainment formats and microdramas. The company will showcase its catalog at MIP Africa, taking place October 28–30 in Cape Town, South Africa, with the aim of strengthening commercial partnerships and exploring new distribution opportunities.
The strategy builds on Globo’s more than 28-year relationship with Côte Ouest, a distributor that helps bring its content to English- and French-speaking African markets. The company’s productions are currently available across 14 channels and platforms in the region, with more than 20 titles distributed, including India: A Love Story, Avenida Brasil, A Life Worth Living, Perfect Love and Mother’s Heart.
One of the key highlights of this edition is The Nobility of Love, a telenovela set to make its international launch in the African market. The production combines romance, adventure and power struggles in a story connecting Brazil with a fictional African kingdom. During its first month, the title reached more than 86 million viewers and generated 287 million views across TV Globo’s social media profiles, according to company figures.
The catalog also includes the telenovelas Three Graces and Fast-Track Hearts, alongside Globoplay original series such as Emergency 53, The Playoffs, Red Blood, Together and Apart and System Collapse.
In entertainment, Globo will present the music reality show Stars of the House and the format Family Size. The offering also includes adaptation opportunities for established fiction properties, including Avenida Brasil, which has already been adapted in Turkey and is set to receive a Portuguese version. The company will also highlight microdramas designed to meet changing viewing habits and expand the exploitation of intellectual property across different platforms.
Globo’s participation will include an exclusive showcase on October 29 and an appearance by Isadora Filpi, Head of Content Distribution and Partnerships at the company, on the panel From Local to Global: What Makes IP Travel?, scheduled for October 30.
Through this strategy, Globo aims to consolidate its position in Africa with a model that combines finished-content distribution with format licensing and new digital content, leveraging local partners to extend the reach of its intellectual properties.
