The deputy director of Comarex analyzed the present of the industry, while highlighting several titles from the Comarex catalogue, such as the film Casi una gran estafa, the show Divas & Persignadas and the series El apóstol.

Times of change and evolution, this is how Ernesto Ramirez, deputy director of Comarex, defined the reality of the entertainment industry in 2023, in a dialogue he had with ttvnews while he participated in the new edition of LA Screenings Independents.

“Entertainment had growth in the post-pandemic period, but I think now we are seeing a rethinking of how the platforms are working,” Ramírez said. “Studios have realized that content cannot be stopped on a platform. The industry is going to move towards sales and windowing, not so much towards originals. We are in that change.”

Regarding Comarex, Ramírez highlighted several titles from his catalog: “We continue to distribute from Channel 13 in Chile and Channel 11 in Mexico. We also bring some films, such as Casi una gran estafa, which is a Mexican comedy; we have a show Divas & Persignadas, it is by two comedians from Guadalajara,” he commented.

“We also bring El Apostól, which will premiere on a pay TV channel in Latin America and will be available starting in January. It talks about the Luz del Mundo church, it’s a pretty strong topic,” added the executive.

“We also have a film that Gravitas produced called Green Ghost & the Masters of the Stone, which alludes to ‘gringo’ and is about an American who has to fight against evil together with his Mexican brothers,” Ramírez shared.

For the remainder of 2024, Comarex will continue working on a development that it is carrying out for a platform: “We are already in the process of writing its treatment, inspired by a Spanish play. It is a comedy”.

“We are also going to be present at Conecta and Iberseries with three projects that we are writing for the pitching and co-production forums. We go with co-producers from Spain in some and from Mexico in others,” he added.
