The well-known producer (Heridas, Arrayán) will develop projects and adaptations of internationally successful IPs. He will also head the first collaboration agreement between the Spanish studio and Ay Yapim.

Miami, January 26th, 2023. Secuoya Studios reinforces its commitment to the creation, production and distribution of audiovisual content with the launch of Secuoya Studios Stories, a new creative area dedicated to the production and co-production of long-running fiction series.

At the head of this new department is Eduardo Galdo (Heridas, Arrayán) who, together with a team of scriptwriters with extensive experience in the sector, will exclusively develop projects for the Hispanic market and will lead the production and co-production of adaptations of major international hits.

“Eduardo Galdo’s experience in the design, creation and production of long-running fiction content is undeniable, with thousands of episodes of some of the longest-running national productions in the history of Spanish television. We are happy to have him join Secuoya Studios and we are convinced of his formidable contribution to the consolidation of the studio as a reference in the development of Spanish-language content for the global market,” said Raúl Berdonés, CEO of Grupo Secuoya.

On his part, Eduardo Galdo assures that all his expectations about the integration of Secuoya Studios have been exceeded. “It’s the best scenario a showrunner could ever dream of. Whatever you need to tell your story better, it gives you the opportunity to establish synergies with the group’s multiple companies. This is truly a 360 creation! If we were asked to define the objective of the new Secuoya Studios Stories, it’s easy: to captivate the hearts of 600 million Spanish speakers with great stories,” says the Granada-born producer.

The projects undertaken by this creative department, which will include screenwriters with a long professional career, such as Lele Portas (Heridas, Ellas soy yo-Gloria Trevi), will be characterized by the quality of their narrative and their high production standards. Adding a wealth of outdoor locations and natural scenery where great stories can be developed, capable of traveling around the world, attracting platforms, pay or general channels, and winning over the most loyal audience to the genre and also the new generations.

Galdo and his team will also explore, in the medium term, other markets where long-form fiction formats are very popular such as Latin America. Among other lines of action for Secuoya Studios Stories is the intention to option the rights of literary works to make their audiovisual adaptation; analyze original projects by independent screenwriters with the aim of launching the project jointly or after acquiring the IP. The studio will also approach other succesful formats in streaming such as the biopic, as well as creating stories in house with Secuoya Studios Stories’ team of screenwriters.

Galdo joins the studio’s renowned creative team of David Martínez and Pablo Barrera (Fiction), Eduardo Escorial (Unscripted) and Eduardo Campoy (Cinema).

Co-production agreement with Ay Yapim, a leader in the Turkish audiovisual industry

The executive producer from Granada will also be in charge of Secuoya Studios’ first collaboration agreement with the Ay Yapim factory, a leader in Turkish audiovisual production, to develop adaptations of major international hits from the production company founded by Kerem Çatay in 2005. Galdo will be the producer of the joint projects and will work hand in hand with a team of Spanish and Turkish creatives in order to analyze the most attractive projects for the Hispanic market.

In this way, Secuoya Studios and Ay Yapim will join forces to develop audiovisual adaptations of internationally successful series from the Turkish factory for the global market. The Spanish studio, a benchmark in the creation, production and distribution of audiovisual content in Spanish and one of the largest audiovisual production companies in Turkey are launching this alliance to jointly promote the co-development, co-financing and 50% co-production of Spanish-language versions of Turkey’s biggest global hits.
