Hosted by Tom Cavalcante, the new adaptation marks the 23rd international version of the format.

Keshet International, the global content producer and distributor, has licensed its hit gameshow format Boom! to Brazilian production company Boxfish for a brand-new local adaptation for Record in Brazil.

Hosted by one of the country’s best-known entertainers, Tom Cavalcante (Show do Tom, and Record’s Acerte ou Caia!), Boxfish’s version of Boom! will bring the high-stakes trivia format to millions of viewers across Brazil, marking the latest international adaptation of the globally successful show. This 15×90’ version for Record will feature two teams in a head-to-head competition, each lead by a celebrity contestant competing alongside their friends or families to win R$100,000. Boom! is set to premiere in Brazil on Record on 8 March.

Created by Ido Rosenblum and Keshet Broadcasting for Keshet 12, Boom! sees teams of players compete to tackle a series of high-pressure trivia challenges. Each question presents multiple possible answers represented by coloured wires, and contestants must cut the correct ones before the countdown clock runs out — with every decision bringing them closer to victory or elimination.

Boom! has become one of Keshet International’s most successful formats, with 22 international adaptations produced to the end of 2025, including in Spain (8 seasons for Atresmedia’s Antena 3 – see below), Italy (3 seasons for Discovery), Hungary (3 seasons for TV2), Vietnam (2 seasons for VTV), Colombia (2 seasons for Caracol), Iran (2 seasons for IRIB TV3) and the US (Fox).

The format continues to travel worldwide, most recently securing a new adaptation in Spain, where Keshet International licensed the format to Mediaset España for a version produced by Mediacrest for Cuatro, after the show previously ran for eight record-breaking seasons on Antena 3. This Spanish adaptation went on to win two Guinness World Records: the first for the most consecutive wins on a TV game show (a total of 300, won by a team called Los Lobos on 24 July 2018); and the second for the largest prize pot of 4.13M Euros (again won by Los Lobos). Their record-breaking winning streak captured the imagination of viewers across Spain, peaking at 4.3m viewers – a massive audience for Antena 3 which represented 28% of the available audience. In total, over 2,000 episodes were commissioned and produced in Spain between 2014 and 2022.

In Italy, Boom! marked a turning point in the Italian primetime slot, tripling the average market share of Discovery Nove and beating its direct competitor, Sky-TV8. Over 400 Italian episodes were commissioned. Having launched in the Philippines as a live stripped segment in GMA Networks’ hit TV variety series Eat Bulaga!, Boom! Philippines was re-ordered for an additional seventy-eight episodes via Television and Production Exponents (TAPE). Boom! Vietnam won the award for Best Game or Quiz Program in the 2019 Asian TV Awards.
