The distributor will be arriving in Cannes with a vast slate of European titles, including new series from Greece and Ukraine for the first time.

Beta Film presents a tour d’Europe with its spring and Miptv line-up, traveling through more than a dozen countries on the continent alone, as well as heading beyond.

For the first time ever, the Munich-based company boards series from Greece and Ukraine: the gripping thriller Silent Road and the character driven drama Picnic.

In addition, Beta picked up distribution rights for Sky Italy’s new drama No Place Like Home – Family, Lies & Legacies, and the Israeli legal drama (Un)Corrupted. The latter, as well as Silent Road will be introduced to clients at market screenings.

At Canneseries, Beta Film premieres with the Movistar Plus+ Original El Inmortal – Gangs of Madrid from Spain and the Canadian Audrey’s Back, two out of ten competition entries.

The innovative global series cycle The Net, as well as the new event series House of Promises, from the producers of Babylon Berlin are competing at MIPDrama.

As part of Cannes Rendez-Vous, Beta presents the crime drama The Island of Thirty Coffins, based on the famous novel by Maurice Leblanc (Lupin), in attendance of the leading cast Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach, 8 Femmes) and Charles Berling (Marie Curie).

Silent Road (13×1 hour, Mega TV / Filmiki) is an emotional, suspenseful crime drama told from multiple perspectives and a modern twist on the tale of the “Pied Piper of Hamelin”. Directed by Vardis Marinakis and written by Melina Tsampani and Petros Kalkovalis, the 13-hour series performed highly above average on Greece’s MEGA and was praised by media as “the best Greek series” (Zappit).

From the creators of Hide and Seek, Beta boards Ukrainian drama series Picnic (8x1h, Mamas film prdouctions). Picnic follows a couple of friends gathering for their traditional picnic. But this time, an event happens that will trigger long-held secrets to be revealed. The series chronicles their attempts to survive the unraveling of their lives.

The gripping Sky Original drama No Place Like Home – Family, Lies & Legacies (8x1h, Lotus Production) by award-winning Italian director Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happiness) is based on one of Italy’s most successful feature films No Place like Home (2018) directed by Muccino as well.

The 8-hours series circles around the Ristuccia family, who own one of the most successful restaurants in Rome. But when patriarch Pietro dies, the Ristuccia family starts fighting over the inheritance of their famous Roman restaurant. Hidden under the perfect façade is a secret of the past, bound to change everything.

Beta recently acquired international distribution rights to the Israeli legal drama (Un)corrupted (18x1h, Tedy Productions), distributing the series itself, as well as the format. From the producers of the original Euphoria and the writer of Your Honor, (Un)corrupted follows up-and-coming attorney Marcel Ben-David at the Tel Aviv DA’s office who fearlessly follows her instincts – and keeps looking into the abominable abyss of a thoroughly corrupt system. The series outperformed even the nightly news at primetime on Israel’s KAN, increasing the average ratings of the slot by 126%.

Further spotlights in Beta’s lineup on Lone Scherfig’s series comeback with hospital drama The Shift (8x1h), which premiered at Berlinale series to great acclaim, the movie cycle Agent Hamilton – New Missions (4x2h/8x1h), based on the iconic novels by best-selling Swedish author Jan Guillou, as well as the first joint venture by Beta and Fisher King, the contemporary thriller Helsinki Syndrome (8x1h), a conspiracy thriller on a mastermind fighting for justice and revenge. Beta also takes over international distribution rights to Cinenord’s Wisting (18x1h), the third season is currently in development.
