The Turkish version of the Italian series is titled Bir Derdim var (Light in the Dark).

Kanal D will premiere the drama Light in the Dark (Bir Derdim var) based on the Italian scripted format On the Brink, broadcast by Mediaset on Canale 5.

The Italian psychological series is based on the figure of Tosca, an out-ordinary doctor who deals with problematic teenagers. Tosca is a rebellious spirit that with her intuition and great sensibility understands the problems of her young patients. At the same time, she is also affected by a dark secret and she fights with her own demons through a complicated love-story with a prosecutor that collaborates at the local court.

The Turkish adaptation is about the rehabilitation process of a group of young people, including criminals, in a clinic. Birce Akalay gives life to the psychologist doctor Nilufer Toska, who is interested in the treatment of young people, who dedicates herself to them, and who also has mysterious sides.

Birce Akalay and Mert Fırat are sharing the lead roles in this trend setter TV series that will premiere in November and the viewers will be discovering a human mind’s mysteries and hope in life with psychiatrist Nilüfer Toska (Birce Akalay), who always helps her young patients with her distinct methods and is ahead of her colleagues with her strong intuition, deep empathy power and passion about her job. The clash between Dr. Toska whose secret can cost her profession, and prosecutor Ömer (Mert Fırat) who is uncompromising against breaking the law, will turn into love. This relationship will not be easy when it comes to love for Dr. Toska, who is scared to give herself a chance, and impressive prosecutor Ömer.

The deal between Mediaset Distribution and Ay Yapim was brokered by SERA FILM who manages the MENEA’s rights of the show; the Turkish version will be distributed internationally by Madd Entertainment.

The name and soundtrack of the TV series Bir Derdim Var comes from the legendary song of the rock music group Mor ve Ötesi. TV series’ music will be produced by Aytekin Ataş and supervised by the group Mor ve Ötesi. The general story will be designed by Duygu Ertekin, script will be written by Yekta Torun and directed by Burak Müjdeci.

The series was filmed inside a Turkish Hospital entitled to Giovanni Agnelli in Istanbul.
