The series will roll out in Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Romania and Croatia. Other titles, including A la deriva, Ágata y Lola, Trazos ocultos and Entre tierras, also attracted interest from buyers across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

Atresmedia Sales secured new international distribution deals for its fiction catalog during Mipcom 2026 in Cannes, with Las hijas de la criada (The Maid’s Daughters) emerging as one of the standout titles in its sales slate. The series will launch in five European markets following agreements with RTP in Portugal, TG4 in Ireland, YLE in Finland, Antena Group in Romania and HRT in Croatia.

Starring Verónica Sánchez, Carlota Baró and Alain Hernández, the series is based on the novel of the same name by Sonsoles Ónega, winner of the Planeta Prize. Its international rollout follows a strong domestic performance: the title delivered atresplayer’s best launch in three years before moving to Antena 3, where it was Spain’s most-watched domestic series in prime time in September, according to the company.

The deal momentum underscores Atresmedia’s strategy of exploiting its productions across multiple windows and territories, with Atresmedia Sales serving as the group’s international distribution arm.

Atresmedia’s Fiction Catalog Expands Its International Reach

Alongside Las hijas de la criada, Atresmedia showcased other titles from its catalog in Cannes that attracted interest from broadcasters and platforms across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

These include A la deriva, a drama starring Paula Echevarría, Daniel Grao and Michel Noher, which continues its run on atresplayer. The lineup also features Ágata y Lola, a police procedural starring Eva Martín and Mireia Oriol; Trazos ocultos, an emotional thriller starring Toni Acosta and Rodolfo Sancho; and the second season of Entre tierras, starring Megan Montaner. The latter is set to arrive in Antena 3’s prime-time lineup following its release on atresplayer last spring.

Another key title in the company’s international offering is Sueños de libertad, starring Natalia Sánchez, Oriol Tarrasón and Dani Tatay. The series will continue its distribution across Latin America and Brazil through HBO Max, as well as in Latvia and Lithuania via TV3, Romania through Happy Channel, Poland on TVP Play, and the Middle East.

The series remains one of Antena 3’s leading fiction assets in Spain and recorded its strongest September performance since launch at the start of the new season, according to Atresmedia.

International Distribution Drives Growth Strategy

Atresmedia’s presence at Mipcom reflects its broader strategy to expand the international circulation of its productions and strengthen Spanish-language fiction’s position in global markets. The group’s catalog combines recent releases with established international properties such as La casa de papel, Vis a vis, Velvet, Gran Hotel, Alba and La cocinera de Castamar.

During Mipcom week, the nominees for the Production Awards were also announced, with Atresmedia and its productions receiving more than 30 nominations, according to the company. Featured titles included Las hijas de la criada, Ágata y Lola and Sueños de libertad.

Through these deals and market activities, Atresmedia Sales aims to capitalize on the international potential of its latest series and expand its presence in territories where Spanish-language fiction continues to offer distribution opportunities.
