The new company led by the award-winning Argentine filmmaker will produce content in all genres and formats. Its team includes Mercedes Reincke (Viacom), Natacha Cervi (Rizoma Films), Mariana Levy and Ezequiel Olemberg.

Argentine screenwriter and director Armando Bó, an Oscar winner for Birdman and showrunner of the highly anticipated series El Presidente, has launched the production company About Entertainment.

The new company will focus, as Bó told Deadline, “on telling the best stories, whatever the best platform and language may be.” This will include fiction, non-fiction and brand integration content.

About Entertainment was born with an experienced team. Mercedes Reincke, who until March was VP of Content Development at Viacom International Studios, will lead that area at Bó’s company.

Natacha Cervi (Rizoma Films) will lead the Production and Operations department; Mariana Levy will oversee Scripts; and Ezequiel Olemberg, the financial and legal division.

“Most seem to be closing companies right now, and we are delighted to be opening one,” Bo said.

While About Entertainment is already working on numerous projects, details of none have yet been revealed.

Bó won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Birdman, along with Nicolás Giacobone, Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Alexander Dinelaris. They also won the Golden Globe. This June 5th, Amazon Prime Video will premiere El Presidente, the Latin American series focused on the FIFA-Gate scandal.

As the director pointed out to Deadline, the experience led him to set a definite course for About Entertainment.

“We defend human stories and strive to tell them in the best possible way to connect with people. The word “About” includes not only the idea of the story, but also the act of telling it, along with the people behind it: the storytellers,” he explained.

In addition, although he is based in Los Angeles, he referred to the great moment that Latin American creativity lives. “I am definitely interested in the US market but also, right now, premium content from Latin America is something everyone is looking for. El presidente was a real opportunity to try something international but related to the US, and it seems to me a great time to develop projects in different formats.”
