Distributor and producer Beta Film announced Movistar+’s Spanish series were acquired by the German broadcaster.

Female-driven Spanish comedies are a hot-seller in Germany, where broadcaster RTL has bought two original series by Spanish powerhouse Movistar+ as well as one French drama series.

Perfect Life will be aired on FreeTV channel VOX and simultaneously on RTL’s streaming service TVNOW, followed by RTL Passion. The fast moving, charming dramedy following three very different women beyond 30 is directed by Spanish star actress and co-creator Leticia Dolera, who also plays the lead.

Paco León’s and Anna R. Costa’s multi-awarded period dramedy Arde Madrid on Ava Gardner’s wild days in late sixty’s Madrid will be aired on RTL Passion.

The outstanding French drama series Crimson Wedding (6 hours, Scarlett Production/France 3) will be launched on RTL’s streaming service TVNOW.

The Movistar+ originals Arde Madrid (8xhalf hour) and Perfect Life (8xhalf hour) are part of Beta’s multi-year production and distribution deal that takes Beta’s ongoing cooperation with the Spanish platform to the next level.

Both series already have some awards under their belt: Arde Madrid, Movistar’s most-binged series ever, won big at the 2019 Spanish national TV awards Premios Feroz, where it took home the trophy for best comedy series, among others.

Perfect Life celebrated a highly successful premiere at the international TV festival Canneseries in April, where it won two of five possible awards, the main award for Best Series and the Special Performance Award.
