Sebastian Lateulade, CEO of TTV Media Group, shares his thoughts on the unprecedented year that is ending and how it forced the industry and our company to reinvent themselves.

This Wednesday, December 23, ttvnews sent out its last newsletter for 2020. As every year, our daily newsletter is taking a break, more necessary and deserved than ever, for the Holidays to return in January.

But the year that is ending has not been a normal one. During the course of 2020 we have had to live through unprecedented times and face enormous challenges as an industry, as professionals and as people.

I still clearly remember those days in March when we learned of the cancellation of Miptv and the difficult decision to make our entire team work from home.

Unfortunately, the events proved to be even worse than we first thought, and we soon had to face the reality that there would be no more face-to-face events throughout the year, with what that meant for the industry in general and for the trade media in particular.

But after a time in which resilience has been our fundamental value, today I can proudly say that at TTV Media Group we have managed to rise to the occasion, improving ourselves day by day based on creativity, innovation, effort, leadership and above all, commitment and teamwork.

In these months we have been able to reinvent ourselves as a news platform, offering the television community a robust portfolio of digital platforms and services with the aim of continuing to inform, and at the same time offer quality and prestigious support to our clients.

We innovated with our traditional products: websites and newsletters updated 24/7, we launched an interactive and current digital magazine, and we presented new initiatives such as Spotlights, eReports and a strong commitment to social networks. In addition, we were present -even in virtual format- at all the relevant trade events, such as Miptv Online+, Natpe Budapest Virtual, Conecta Fiction Reboot, Mipcom Online+ and MipCancun Online+.

And our reinvention culminated in these last days of 2020, when after months of tireless work and effort we launched TTV+, our B2B platform in which we combine a complete marketplace with more than 200 distribution companies and thousands of titles available, advanced networking tools and the possibility of holding live events.

We celebrated the launch of TTV+ with the successful virtual event, TTV Live+: The Future of TV Content, which brought together more than 40 speakers and the participation of more than 1,400 executives from 56 countries for 10 days.

So with great joy I can say that this has been a time of great learning for our company, a time to generate new ways of communicating and connecting with partners and clients, a time to value our relationships in the industry, as well as the trust and value placed in our I work as a destination for the reunion of our entire beloved television community.

And, although there were times when we couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, everything we learned in 2020 leaves us today better positioned to face the challenges that may come, and empowers us as a vehicle and point of connection for the Spanish-speaking industry, as TV has become more necessary than ever as a means of information and escapism.

So today I want to thank and honor the trust placed in our brand. I wish you all very happy holidays and may 2021 find us healthy, strengthened and united.

The best is yet to come.

With love,

Sebastian Lateulade
