A New Edition of Miptv Digital Comes to an End

The event ended its second digital edition, with a new Fresh TV session, the announcement of the winner of MIPDrama 2021, and more content sales and acquisitions. The next appointment with the Mip markets will be Mipcom in October, which returns to aface-to-face format.

This Friday marked the end of the 2021 edition of Miptv, carried out entirely virtually for the second consecutive year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The platform will now be available to its users, providing access to the conferences and events held during the event, until May 14.

Here are the main news from the last day of Miptv:

1. Reed Midem unveiled the winning series of MIPDrama 2021, the showcase featuring the most anticipated premium series of the season.

This time, the big winner of this year’s Coup de Cœur was Agatha Christie’s Sven Hjerson from Sweden, produced by B-Reel Films together with TV4 / CMore, Nadcon, ZDF, the Åland government, and Agatha Christie Limited; and distributed by ZDF Enterprises.

2. The Wit presented the last of its five Fresh TV conferences, Fresh TV Kids, where it presented its selection of trendsetting children’s content.

The list included content for kids and teens that falls under this year’s keywords in the creative community: diversity, inclusion, and mental health.

3. All3Media International announced its first format license for the idtv reality show, The Traitors.

Belgium’s VTM commissioned a local adaptation of the format, which brings together famous contestants for a psychological adventure in which betrayal and deception are the names of the game.

The next appointment with the Mip markets will be at Mipcom in October, which is expected to be a physical event, like the next Miptv in 2022, which would be face-to-face after two virtual editions.
