In the US, the show averaged 29 million viewers per episode, while the last installment of the first season set records for HBO Max in Latam, Asia and Europe.
The first season of House of the Dragon has not only repaired the relationship with the fans of the universe of A Song of Ice and Fire, damaged after the infamous last seasons of Game of Thrones, but has also broken the records set by the previous adaptation.
The latest episode of House of the Dragon, broadcasted Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, reached 9.3 million viewers in the US, the best number for an opening night of an HBO title since the last two episodes of Game of Thrones. The first season of the series, considering all platforms, said goodbye to American screens with an average of 29 million viewers per episode.
The numbers have been even more spectacular around the world. In Europe, its first season was positioned as the best launch of an HBO Max series in its history, something that was replicated in the US and Latin America.
HBO Max announced that the latest episode of the series was the most watched in history on the brand’s streaming platforms in multiple territories, including Latin America, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan on an HBO streaming service.
“We are very excited to see House of the Dragon spark a flame among Game of Thrones fans around the world, as well as new viewers who are discovering the world of Westeros for the first time,” said Casey Bloys, President. and CEO of HBO and HBO Max, in a statement. “Congratulations to George, Ryan, Miguel and the entire team at HOUSE OF THE DRAGON for an incredible first season.”
