The life of Alparslan, the sultan who extended the dominions of the Seljuk dynasty, is narrated in The Great Seljuks: Alparslan with all the quality that characterizes historical TRT dramas, which Mistco has distributed with enormous success around the world.
A conqueror. This is how history defines Alparslan, the second sultan of the Seljuk dynasty, who in the 11th century extended his dominions by conquering multiple territories, including Georgia, Armenia and the Asian peninsula of Anatolia. His spectacular life is the focus of The Great Seljuks: Alparslan, the prequel to the hit The Great Seljuks: Guardians of Justice.
“Great Seljuks: Guardians of Justice had a great performance last year and Alparslan is a spin off of it,” Aysegul Tuzun, managing director of Mistco, told ttvnews. “It is new for Turkey; we usually see what comes next in stories, but here we will see what happened before”.
“It is the story of Sultan Alparslan, who opened the door to the Turks,” said Tuzun. “We are very excited about the project, not only because of the opportunity to see the story of Alparslan on screen, but also because we will have Barış Arduç, known for Love for Rent, and Fahriye Evcen, a well-known star in Turkey, together on the screen”.
The series has the seal of quality of TRT productions and its extensive know-how in the matter thanks to titles such as Resurrection: Ertugrul.
In Alparslan, which has just made its debut on local television, Barış Arduç plays a man who as a child was destined for great things, but who must overcome tragedies, such as the death of his mother, and make enormous sacrifices to achieve them.
“In addition to the historical narrative, love will be an integral part of this series and Fahriye Evcen, after a long break, will be on screen in a female lead role and I think that, like us, our international partners and the public are excited to see this couple on the screen”.
Evcen plays Akva, a young Turkish woman whom Alparslan rescues from an attack by Byzantine soldiers. It is she who helps him fulfill one of his objectives, infiltrating Vaspurakan, and thus begins their love story.
In addition to Alparslan, Mistco is also distributing another historical drama, Barbarossa: Sword of the Mediterranean, about the life of one of the most famous pirates of all time.
Barbarossa: Sword of the Mediterranean also features a stellar cast, with Engin Altan Düzyatan, from the aforementioned Resurrection: Ertugrul, and Ulaş Tuna Astepe, from Lifeline.
“This series will tell the story of brave and legendary sailors who became conquerors of the sea,” explains Tuzun. “We have high expectations for the series and are receiving interest from all over the world.”
The distributor is also presenting new seasons of some of its greatest hits of recent years, such as The Innocents, a series that has been sold to more than 50 countries, Shadow Team, An Anatolian Tale and Once Upon a Time in Cyprus, among others.
