The company confirmed its investment of US$ 300 million in more than 50 original productions filmed in Mexico, set to premiere in 2021. It also revealed new content.
As it has been doing in different international markets, Netflix made a virtual presentation for the press of its content news for 2021, both globally and produced in Mexico.
From the its offices in Mexico City, Francisco Ramos, VP of Content for Latin America at Netflix, highlighted that the platform reaches more than 37 million households in Latin America and produces series and movies in countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.
In this sense, Ramos highlighted the opening of the office in Mexico and what the market represents within its global strategy.
“Mexico is a very important country for Netflix. On the one hand, our members have shown a huge interest in Mexican stories, from Club de Cuervos to Who Killed Sara?, going through many other titles,” he commented.
On the other hand, Ramos underlined the interest in Mexican content outside of Mexico, which is “growing as the quality and diversity of our offer grows, as we have seen with Control Z, Oscuro Deseo and Madre solo hay dos. There is enormous talent in the Mexican audiovisual world and we hope that the impulse that Netflix is supplying to the industry will allow us to tell more and better Mexican stories”.
In 2021 alone, the company announced an investment of US$ 300 million in more than 50 original productions, whether local or global, filmed in Mexico, which are planned to premiere this year.
Here are all the announced Mexican projects:
