Formalizing the creative partnership which has been dubbed the House of Ron, the deal builds on the studio’s expanding relationship with the author, which now spans multiple book series.
On June 26, Amazon MGM Studios signed Mercedes Ron to a first-look deal, formalizing the creative partnership which has been dubbed the House of Ron. The deal builds on the studio’s expanding relationship with the author, which now spans multiple book series.
Prime Video has already announced that it is adapting the second book in Ron’s successful Enfrentados duology, which is titled Drawn Apart (Enfrentados: Marfil).
Drawn Together and Drawn Apart (Enfrentados: Ébano) mark the third stage of collaboration between Prime Video and the bestselling author, following the adaptations of her popular Culpables trilogy, which has reached 100 million viewers worldwide, and Tell Me Softly (Dímelo bajito).
Also upcoming is 30 sunsets para enamorarte (30 Sunsets to Fall in Love), the first book in author Ron’s Bali series, which is her most recent work. It will mark the first U.S. adaptation of the bestselling Spanish author’s work, after the success of the English UK My Fault trilogy adaptation.
Additionally, the deal means Ron will be executive producing all the above and future adaptations, whilst also providing her with the opportunity to bring IP by other authors to the attention of Amazon MGM Studios for possible adaptation.
Speaking about the deal, Ron said: “Working with the Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios family to bring my stories to the screen has been an incredible partnership. I look forward to bringing more of my stories to life for readers around the world through this continued collaboration and am thrilled to serve as an executive producer on upcoming adaptions.”
Nicole Clemens, VP and head of UK and International Originals, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, added: “Mercedes Ron is an extraordinary talent whose stories have captured the hearts and imaginations of fans around the world. Bringing Mercedes’ characters to life on Prime Video has been one of the most thrilling creative partnerships we’ve had, and we’re just getting started. We have Drawn Together coming up this September and we cannot wait to share it with fans. Mercedes is already part of the Amazon MGM Studios family—this represents our continued commitment to expanding the House of Ron.”
