The group is present at LA Screenings with a catalog of new distribution titles and with the goal of finding production partners to create horror films for the region.

International distributor Comarex arrived at the new edition of LA Screenings with a strengthened catalog, brimming with content and new releases resulting from strategic alliances with key partners in the international market.
“This year we are focusing on content from Canal Once in Mexico, certain dramas from Canal 13 in Chile, and we’ve acquired Mediaset’s religious content for a new account, which, although seasonal and always more helpful for Christmas and Easter, are stories that are always in demand,” began Ernesto Ramírez, deputy director of Comarex, in an interview with ttvnews.
“And we’ve also been acquiring certain film titles for distribution, Mexican films and some American films,” he added.
In addition to content distribution, the group is also exploring original production.
“We’re also investing a bit in development. If all goes well, we might be awarded EFICINE (Tax Incentive for National Film Production and Distribution) funding to produce a horror film. We’re right at the end of the funding period for this semester, so we’ll open applications toward the end of June if we’re selected.”
“We’re focusing a bit on those kinds of productions with EFICINE funding, and we’re looking for partnerships with producers, specifically regarding films, to explore potential pre-sales,” he added.
Why invest in the horror genre? “It’s a genre that performs very well globally,” the executive explained. “Horror works very well everywhere. In Peru, horror films do very well, even though they’re genre films, and some say they’re niche, but they work very well everywhere. You can work with smaller budgets because you don’t need star talent, you can use more controlled locations. And in the end, the genre allows you to explore; you can make a supernatural thriller, and there are no creative limitations.”
