The Walt Disney Company Latin America today announced the appointment of Monica Albuquerque as Head of Original Content for Disney+ Brazil.
In this role, she will report to Daniel Burman, Head of Original Content for Disney+ Latin America, and will lead the creative strategy and development of original productions in Brazil for Disney.
This appointment reinforces Disney’s ongoing commitment to investing in local original productions that complement its global portfolio, as well as strengthening its presence in one of the region’s most dynamic and strategic markets.
“Monica is one of the most respected creative executives in the industry, with an exceptional track record in developing high-quality content with great cultural resonance,” said Daniel Burman, Head of Original Content for Disney+ Latin America.
“Her deep understanding of the Brazilian market, combined with her regional perspective and passion for storytelling, uniquely positions her to enhance our original content strategy in Brazil and further strengthen our connection with audiences. She also brings a unique sensitivity to her approach to talent, with an instinctive ability to understand, interpret, and empower creative voices in a way that elevates both the content and the people behind it,” added Burman.
“Disney has always been a place where imagination and discovery meet, so joining the company feels like a return to my own love of storytelling. After a formative period creating content for the U.S. Hispanic market -which broadened my repertoire and strengthened my cultural perspective- I’m returning to Brazil with a renewed sense of purpose, a fresh perspective, and a firm belief in the power of our stories to connect with audiences around the world. Coming home as part of Disney is both an honor and a profoundly significant professional milestone,” said Monica Albuquerque, Head of Original Content for Disney+ Brazil.

Previously, she was Head of Scripted Content at Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America, where she oversaw original productions for HBO Max and pay television, including high-impact, high-performing cultural titles such as City of God: 20 Years Later, Fatal Beauty, Like Water for Chocolate, Chespirito, and Dona Beja.
