The new Charlie’s Angels series will be set in Latin America and will maintain the basic tenets of the iconic brand, which was developed for preteens in Portuguese.

Sony Pictures Television – Kids and Floresta have teamed up to produce a reimagined version of the beloved Charlie’s Angels children’s franchise. Developed for tweens, the Portuguese-language series will be written by Brazilian actress and screenwriter Suzana Pires (Sol Nascente, Flor do Caribe, Os Caras de Pau).

The new Charlie’s Angels series will be set in Latin America. They will maintain the iconic brand’s core tenets of high-octane action and comedy, a mysterious boss, and empowered young female characters.

The children’s series will focus on three preteens with different backgrounds and realities selected by a headhunter based on their special skills to join a secret spy school called the Angel Academy.

Each episode will follow the Angels as they solve crimes and save the world while navigating their first year at the spy school. The stories will combine real, close, and sometimes absurd cases with elements of fun and wish fulfillment.

Joe D’Ambrosia, executive vice president and general manager of SPT – Kids, mentioned that they are thrilled to have the opportunity to develop this incredible Sony intellectual property for a younger, hipper audience. “We’re leaning into a must-see cliffhanger narrative while staying true to the show’s original premise: mystery, adventure, comedy, and empowered young women balancing schoolwork, softball practice, and being teenagers, all while saving the world,” he said.

For his part, Thiago Teitelroit, creative director of Floresta Scripts, emphasized that it is rare for a franchise to have crossed so many generations without failing to entertain mass audiences. “It’s a unique opportunity, not only considering the market but especially because Brazilian viewers can explore new entertainment spaces with such charismatic and timeless characters. And there is no one better than Suzana Pires, given her talent and exceptional contribution to women’s empowerment in the audiovisual field, to bring the new Angels to life.”
