Netflix has just announced the upcoming premiere of a third installment of Stranger Things, after not releasing a single new episode in 2018.

On July 4 (US Independence Day), an entire new season of the science fiction-horror series created and directed by the Duffer Brothers will be simultaneously released on all territories where the OTT is available.

The announcement was made through the platform's social media and a YouTube video with a countdown to New Year’s Day.

The first confirmed details reveal that the new season will have 8 episodes (same as S1 and one less than S2), with the original cast returning in their roles. The plot will be set in the summer of 1985, two years after the events of S1.

Stranger Things was written and created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen as executive producers.
