Channing Dungey, until now VP of Original Content at Netflix, will serve as chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group starting in 2021, when Peter Roth leaves the company.
A few days ago, the US media published that Channing Dungey would leave her position as Vice President of Netflix Original Content, which she had held since 2018, to dedicate herself to another professional opportunity.
And now, her new challenge was unveiled: from 2021 she will be the chairman of Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) Group, occupying the position that Peter Roth has held for more than two decades, and who last Friday announced his departure from the largest TV studio in Hollywood.
This change in the top leadership of WBTV Group is part of the great restructuring that WarnerMedia is carrying out, led by its new CEO, Jason Kilar.
“This is kind of a homecoming for Channing, who was a production executive at Warner Bros. early in her career, and we’re excited that she’s rejoining the studio,” said Ann Sarnoff, president and CEO of the studio and networks at WarnerMedia.
“Channing is one of the most talented, visionary, creative and respected executives working in TV today. She has impeccable taste, extensive experience spanning all platforms and genres, incredible relationships in the creative community, and a keen sense of what’s to come, as well as the best way to bring it to the public,” she added.
Dungey commented: “I am delighted to join the company at such a crucial time in its history, and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues at Warner Bros. and across its studios and channels to further deepen the incredible work of my predecessor, Peter Roth.”
“It’s such an electrifying time in our industry, and we have so many opportunities available between the Warner Bros. and HBO Max businesses, that I can’t wait to dive into them,” she concluded.
Prior to Netflix, Dungey led ABC Entertainment, overseeing development, programming, marketing, and programming operations for the network’s prime time and late night. Among the titles in which he participated are successful series such as Scandal, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. o Once Upon a Time.
