The wandering life in rural towns creates the atmosphere of this unforgettable, authentically Mexican story, which depicts a love marked by gambling and luck. El Gallo de Oro is an adaptation of the short novel by Juan Rulfo, one of the most important references of 20th-century universal literature and the precursor of magical realism.
The story is set in Mexico in the 1940s when it was still reeling from the upheaval of the revolution and dealing with the poverty and changes it brought.
Set in Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí, the drama stars Lucero (Soy tu dueña, Por ella soy Eva, Mañana es para siempre), José Ron (La mujer del diablo, La desalmada) and Plutarco Haza (La mujer de nadie, Silvia Pinal, frente a ti).
El Gallo de Oro stars Alejandro Ávila, Luis Felipe Tovar, Adriana Williams, María Aura, Axel Alcántara, Roberta de la Portilla, Pablo Abitiia, Santiago Colores, and lead actor Alberto Estrella.
Chance will play an essential role in this series when a shy town crier, Dionisio Pinzón (José Ron), crosses paths with Bernarda (Lucero), a famed fairground singer known as La Caponera, causing both of their fortunes to change forever.
The W Studios series is executive produced by Patricio Wills and Carlos Bardasano, and the adaptation was written by Lina Uribe (Hasta que la plata nos separe, La reina del sur), Darío Vanegas (El Mariachi, La reina del sur) and Daniela Richer (El dragón, Los ricos también lloran).
Chava Cartas (La Rebelión, Mexzombies, Mirreyes contra Godinez 2, ‘El Retiro’) and Beto Casillas (Mexzombies, Mirreyes contra Godinez 2, ‘El Retiro’, Hernán) are in charge of the direction of photography.
