Barbie Casillas, Macarena García, Jedet, Catherine Siachoque, Nicole Curiel, Claudia Martín, and Sara Maldonado are set to star in stand-alone episodes of the series.
TelevisaUnivision’s new global subscription-based premium streaming service, ViX+, today announced that Barbie Casillas, Macarena García, Jedet, Catherine Siachoque, Nicole Curiel, Claudia Martín, and Sara Maldonado are set to star in the hit series Mujeres asesinas, joining previously announced Academy Award Nominee Yalitza Aparicio. The reimagined psychological thriller began shooting this past June.
Inspired by real events, the anthology series presents stories of women who did not have simple, peaceful, or happy lives. They dealt with violent partners, manipulative fathers or mothers, hostile bosses, and humiliating situations. All of them tried to improve their lives and failed. Without the resources or psychological help, they reached the limit, and jail or death was less terrifying than continuing to endure their situation.
The original award-winning anthology became one of the most popular series on Mexican television featuring renowned actresses including Itatí Cantoral, Verónica Castro, Edith González and Aislinn Derbez and more during its first three seasons spanning from 2008 to 2010.
The new 8-episode version of the popular series, inspired by Marissa Grinstein’s book ‘Mujeres Asesinas’, has been adapted by renowned Spanish writer Alicia Luna. Pepe Castro, Carlos García Agraz, and Ana Lorena Peréz-Rios are are set to direct. Francisco Casasús Fernández, Rafael Cuadros Valle and Luis Luisillo Miguel serve as executive producers. Mujeres asesinas is a production of Plétora Productions. The series is set to premiere exclusively on ViX+ in the United States, Mexico and most Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America later this year, with new episodes premiering weekly.

She will also be seen in Presencias, a Mexican horror film directed by Luis Mandoki, exclusively for ViX+.
Spanish singer, actress, and LGBTQ+ activist Jedet is known for her roles in Looser, Paquita Salas, and La Veneno, as well as on the 2021 series Cardo, available on ViX+.
Colombian television and theater actress Catherine Siachoque is best known for her roles in telenovelas, including La Casa de al Lado, Donde Esta Elisa?, Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso, Pecados Ajenos, Tierra de Pasiones, Te Voy a Enseñar a Querer, La Venganza and more. Most recently, she was seen in Oscuro Deseo 2 and La Mujer de Mi Vida.
Television and theater actress Nicole Curiel is best known for her various roles in telenovelas, including Si Nos Dejan and La Herencia, as well as series such as Los Caminos del Amor Personaje, Como Dice El Dicho, Familia de Diez, Distroller, and Simon Dice. On the theater side, she was in the 2019 production of El Proceso de Franz Kafka.
Mexican actress Claudia Martín has worked in television and theater and also holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication. She is best known for her roles in Fuego Ardiente, Como Tu No Hay Dos and this September she will star in Los Ricos Tambien Lloran. On the theater side, she interpreted Silene in the 2018 production of ¡Dios Mío: Hazme Viuda Por Favor!.
Sara Maldonado is a Mexican actress, better known for her role as Lorena Alvarez from El Juego de la Vida, which was her first main role and her first telenovela. She also stared in hit telenovelas such as Aurora and La Reina Del Sur. She returned to theater in the 2022 production of Perfecta.
