ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) and La Claqueta PC announced the development of a new fictional drama series set in Seville and in the world of drug trafficking, soccer, extortion and money.
ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) and La Claqueta PC announced on Thursday an agreement to develop Jamila, a new drama series, created by Alberto Marini, Olmo Figueredo González-Quevedo and José Rodríguez Suárez.
In addition, “a great team of professionals from the Spanish market will be involved in the script and direction of this series,” VIS announced.
It is a new fiction project developed by VIS in Spain, where it is also developing other series such as El día menos pensado (with Zeta Studios), Mentiras pasajeras (with El Deseo), La novia gitana (with Diagonal TV), Punto rojo or the adaptation of A golpes con la vida by Poli Díaz.
Jamila portrays the story of three characters whose paths cross in Sevillla. A sexual blackmail that goes wrong becomes the occasion for the three of them to find a way out of their problems by dedicating themselves to the marijuana business. Soon the inexperience, mutual distrust and the reaction of the consolidated cartels will take their toll.
Olmo Figueredo, producer of the film nominated for 15 Goya awards, La tinchera infinita and the series Nacho Vidal, una industria XXL; Alberto Marini, executive producer of the [REC] saga and co-creator of La Unidad; and José Rodríguez Suárez, scriptwriter of Adiós, Diablero and La plaga, will participate in the development of the series as creators and showrunners.
